Charging annual membership would be iffy, wouldn't attract new people. It'd be a better business model to offer a money store focused on micro transactions. You could sell colored names, custom fonts and crap like that. It wouldn't stop people from joining and would give people who wanted to support the option to and something to flaunt over the plebs while they turn their thread into a pyre. How you'd go about making that happen I unno. Also I don't think you'd break even doing so with such a low user base.

I would be curious to see what Over has to say about this. He was gone for awhile and has only recently started posting again. Perhaps he could shed some light on why this site has gone downhill and other long term members no longer post here.

I know this is old, but I'll take the question....

I left because I had started taking the moderating a lil too seriously.... So I come back very occasionally, and it is only THEN that you realize the site is the same ol' same 'ol every day. It's the same questions, the same conversations time after time after time. It's not that the site has gone downhill, it's that the site never changes.
Lots of great members here, the owners are great, but the threads never change.

Where can I get some UPS socks?

sadly , this site has been going down hill because there is a core group of clowns and bullies that scare away new members and disgust respected old timers. this one percent has grown to become the 85 %. in a short time it will be 99 %. a total waste of time.

Respected members like Dracula and dozens of others are only logging in once a week or less just to see what's going on or try to help a new member with a serious question on a thread that gets derailed after only 3 posts. the most common comment is " same ol sheet , different day ."

no, I suggested at one time that i would pay to be a member but have changed my mind . i am spending less and less time on the Brown Cafe. I tried to educate and even tried to liven things up from time to time but it always came down to the " lowest denominator " type responses.

btw , it's just a waste of time for most of you buffoons to respond as you are on ignore.
