Which will cause my Medicare payments to increase, but I'm prepared for that.

I've been doing that for the last 9 years.
Probably around $30,000- $35,000 yearly.
First I needed a new boat, then paid off the mortgage, new ( used ) truck and having enough free cash to improve my standard of living while helping out some friends.

I didn't fully realize how valuable having a ROTH IRA is.

Yeah but they haven't had that option for many years. It would have been borderline whether it was worth it for me to convert to one.
