10 point commentary

Got the 10 point commentary and 5 seeing habits down cold. Is there anything else that has to be memorized? Someone mentioned something about 10 backing points.

Eight keys to lowering and lifting, yard control rules, what to do if a package is leaking, why do you do a proper pre-trip, backing rules change like the wind.

Memorize these two sentences.
One LOOK COUNTS as a MAINTAINED CHECK.
SCAN STALE MAINTENENCE logs before PULLING the ESTABLISHED ones.
They are key words, sort of like "a good kid likes milk."

in my area we must know the the 5 seeing eye habits and the explanations word for word, the 10 point commentary word for word and be able to explain them.

here are the 5 rules of backing

1. back only when neccesary
2. back first and to drive side.
3. scan the areas your vehicle will be approaching.
4. tap your horn continuously.
5. use your rear view camera as a third mirror.

from what i have been taught u must tap horn before u begin to reverse and every 3 seconds thereafter.

you will probably need to know the 8 keys of lifting and lowering, the 5 keys to preventing slips and falls along with the 8 keys to yard control, keys to pushing and pulling which you will be taught in class. from what i know we will be tested on the pre-trip, the 5 & 10 and the road drill, human resources will give u a packet with this material if you have to go to integrad, you might also have to do an online pre-course that you must pass with a 85% or better that deals with the diad, service labels and on car safety.

I have been here 26 years and when I got tested on it a couple of weeks ago I failed miserably.

I can remember the "All Good Kids Love Milk" acronym and I can recite the keys to lifting and lowering, but when it comes to the whole 10 point commentary with the numbers and the "how do you do it?" stuff, I tend to get the buzz words mixed up. I know it all, i just cant recite it in the order or the manner that they want to hear. Oh well...I have 28 years of ticket and accident free driving in my personal vehicle, and the only "accidents" I have had in a UPS truck have been a couple of busted mirrors and run-ins with tree branches on dark nights. I guess I must be doing something right.

This is what I learned about 2 months ago. 5 seeing habits is word for word and is spoken. 10 point commentary was word for word for the header and the WHY? Part, the paragraph could be summarized with the main points explained. I memorized the whole paragraphs just to be safe.
