Amazon Water and AOC Oil Don't Mix

Lowering tax rates across the board such that they don't routinely need to be offset by gigantic tax incentive packages in the first place would probably be the best way to go.
Kumbaya hands across America give peace a chance all you need is love.

In the meantime back in reality we have a two party system and that ain't gonna happen.

True but it wasn't her district and I believe 70% of New Yorkers supported it.

It’s true. The proposed project wasn’t in her district but it was in a district adjacent to hers. Long term and short term , that project would have affected the population in the Queens portion of her district. It would have displaced a lot of the population with those that could afford the increased rents and housing prices in that part of Queens.

And those new people would NOT be voting for a socialist. Maybe that’s why she is so happy.

Ok.
I guess the author could just be delusionally optimistic. Well just vote for politicians that will lower taxes and we won't need these incentives. Lol, ok, when people stop voting for Republicans and Democrats all our problems will work out.
Lol I’d love to see a strong 3rd party. Would force everyone to actually work together or total gridlock which isn’t terrible either

The article didn't break that down. But since you are from there, maybe you can tell us.
Amazon has more than 45,000 employees making more than $110K a year in Washington. That generates more than $703mil a year to the state. Washington state learned a valuable lesson in the 1970s when People were leaving because good jobs were scarce.

Lol some of yall love Cortez.
The real reason is simple, Amazon did not want to deal with and negotiate with, the various Unions inhabiting New York.
It's that simple.

Given that, it's a pie in the Sky that a headquarters in NYC would generate 25-27 $ billion in 20 years.

they knew about the unions before they agreed to the deal. they were offering a huge economic benifit. after fierce competition new york won. Suddenly thanks to AOC and a few other nut jobs amazon no longer felt appreciated. There is a great lesson here to be learned and unfortunately the citizens will be the students.

Those numbers are average. That’s approximately $1 billion a year. Higher earners tend to spend more money therefore more revenue to the state.

There are many other jobs/businesses created from these 45,000 jobs. These people buy cars, boats, houses, campers, etc. In Washington state alone there are countless UPS driving jobs plus 1 or 2 feeder jobs.

I replied to the statement of tax revenue nothing else. NYC would be about half the workforce of Seattle anyway.

If that was the case why announce it as a location in the first place?

Anyone stop to think why NYC and Washington D.C. metro areas? The political and financial hubs of the country?

I am only talking about tax revenue. I would guess 30-40% of ups stops in Washington state is amazon (Feels like much more though). 30% is about 150 drivers from Seattle north. That’s over $2 million in tax revenues because of amazon.

I would like to think they have benefited from other states tax incentives too. After all isn’t that what we want? Successful businesses that grow regionally, nationally, and even globally.

My post was specifically addressing a new headquarters in NYC. Nothing else.
