anyone else burnt out yet?

PM pu routes don't end at 1700 or 1800 especially this time of year. Outbound is heavy just as inbound.
That’s where I’m confused. How late in the morning do you guys come in to help with deliveries? Or for peak can people walk in at basically any time and have deliveries available?

Pretty much. We have multiple commit times and have couriers come in at different times to help with those. And most areas right now are not really focusing on service except for FO and now the vaccines.

Good luck with the vaccines. That’s a crazy amount of stress for your system right now. I guess it gives you an excuse for any other failure though. Buzz off we had vaccine to deliver!

The company has a service failure every day of the week. I guess it's a disaster.
A service failure, that's funny.
If a guy hits .300 for 20 years he's going to the Hall of Fame, a 70% failure rate.
What is an acceptable failure rate at the best overnight delivery company?

They told us the vaccines take priority over everything. Will be first del on any route that has it. But I don't think it will really impact the majority of routes. Most likely they'll dedicate specific drivers to del these before heading to their routes.

You tell me, you're the one who is predicting a disaster.

You're the football guy, we'll use the same type of yardstick.
Fedex Express claims abound, I'll equate them to the Lombardi glory year Packers, you are probably more aware of the Brady Pats.

We know what the finest coaches find acceptable.

Like everything else he says, he has demonstrated that he knows very little about football.

Is that a split shift with a long gap in between or does the morning route just roll into the pm?

I suppose it’s very similar. I often have to stop delivering a.m. freight to allow a one hour break. Then I either deliver on my pickup route or give some to others. Any late freight or mis sorts also get added, though I prioritize the leftover deliveries and my pickups. Anything I can’t get off I 08. Perfectly clear.

What’s an 08? How early do you start when you work mornings?

They’re making you take 1-hour breaks and bringing back undelivered freight? Jeebus.

I typically have about four or five morning deliveries that I take in the afternoon. Those usually are delivered. These and my pups are top priority. Mis sorts can wait.

As for 08’s, often a business is closed when I get there. But if it looks like I’ll be returning to the building past 8 pm, anything I couldn’t get off is taken back for the next day, per my manager’s instructions.

Bit of a snowball effect.

Oh yeah, I usually start mornings at about 8:30. But because of frequent Memphis delays, we sometimes don’t start routes until 10:45. That’s why I’m sure that so much fun is yet to come.

Not burned out yet. I worked three consecutive mornings last week, plus my pm route. That was tiring. But I was off m yesterday. The coming week and especially Christmas week should be a ton of fun.

And I guess we’ll be delivering Covid vaccine, too.
UPS has the vaccine deliveries for the east half of the USA, so if reports are correct, you're safe.

getting to old for this peak *. how about you?
Tired? Yes Burnt out? No 22nd peak, I'm used to it.
I guess it depends on the pm route, right? He’d be pushing 12 hours if he was going straight through.
Punch in to punch out can't be more than 14.
Punch out to punch in must be at least 10 hours.
All that no matter how long you're 'on the clock' and no matter how long your break is
A 0500 start must be off the clock by 1900 to be able to start at 0500 the following morning
