Where did you buy your IOTA at?

IOTA and ripple will be on coinbase before the end of 2018. That'll give them a nice bump

I bought Iota at binance. Mostly buy ether or litecoin at GDAX then send to binance or gatehub to trade to Ripple etc. If they dont have a trading pair I'll use shapeshift or changelly to convert to what I want. I prefer shapeshift.

I missed out on LTC. Planning on buying but waited too long, didn't get in before the surge in price. Probably will pick up 10-15 coins in the next month.

Just FYI the new tax bill changes some things in crypto. Used to you could trade one coin for another and never had to worry about taxes. Now that's a taxable event.

Yes, and that's horrible. Makes the taxes overly complicated and a real pain in the ass. I mostly buy and hold though so not too bad on me. I try to hold long enough for long term cap gains.

TRX was a big winner so far. Bought at .03365 600%+ profit in a few days.

An update: I got in a little while back. So far, happy with the ROI even with the dips and spikes. Ethereum is what is really getting me excited.

edit: heard a really great analogy the other day. Bitcoin/Ethereum/Litecoin = Amazon/Pets.com/Facebook

The Blockchain = the Internet.

While all of these cryptocurrencies themselves may not hit the stratosphere, you'd better believe a few will, and the technology behind them is what is really worth getting excited about.

That's certainly one perspective.

Yes and no. To call it a simple tool to educate Libertarians about Economics is a pretty gross simplification. You have to understand the speed at which the technology behind the currencies is developing, and the collective intelligence behind it. I can see where reading the first few paragraphs would make someone think this is a hit piece on crypto and nothing more. Plus, Washington Post...Bezos...what is his angle? Who knows.

Not saying the dude is right or wrong but he's not saying anything that a lot of other people schooled in the ways of economics and finance aren't saying as well. Bezos doesn't exercise control over editorial content so I doubt he has an angle. I'm not sold on btc, but I am using it to make a few bucks. Etherium has already tripled for me so that's working out pretty nice.

Agree with lots of what you said. I just don't trust Bezos, never have.

It was never meant to replace money. At least bitcoin wasn't. Other crypto out there does have that as a goal.

Honestly I kind of hate the name crypto currency. Most aren't really meant to be used as currency

This straight from the Bitcoin Foundation:
What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer version of electronic cash that allows payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution.

It sure sounds like it was meant to replace money. I'm not trying to argue with you btw, I personally have no clue where btc is going and you could probably make the case that the Bitcoin Foundation isn't really in control of it's future either.

I should say Day to day currency. They know with 21 million max supply scaling was and will always be a problem likely (as a daily currency replacement).

At least from what I've read. It's original purpose was to give people an easier and cheaper way to move wealth from country to country. Kind of a digital western union without the exchange charges and everything.

That's the thing also. Who knows what bitcoin endgame as a use will be or if bitcoin will even be around in a decade. They were the first but their form of the technology is way behind at this point.

I had been thinking for awhile a great use for the blockchain technology would be medical records. Was just reading the other day someone is coming out with a "medchain" for exactly that purpose.
