I just searched for that post Susie made that showed the IP address of someone posting from UPS...... but couldn't find it. I did find a post where Dannyboy mentioned it.
Anyone else good at searching? Anyone else remember it?
Anyone think I was drinking too much that night?
The IP address is just where the outgoinging message server is located. We are all safe, the Company can't figure out the true identity of a poster unless they use their real name. I am officially coming out of the closet, for some reason Cheryl asked me to be a Moderator. I can't figure out your true identity, and UPS can't either. Don't worry about it.
A supe did not say this, it was brought up at a Union meeting about the new diad system...
One center is already using the diagnostics notification and reduced the out of service Package Cars. So it seems that part works...
Another feature disables the diad while the package car is in motion to keep drivers with "both hands on the wheel..."
Why all the worry? Speaking one's mind is not a crime. We have no trade secrets and most of us are just hourly grunts. If anyone is listening I hope they will realize that we have some problems that are chronic and taking the steps to fix them would help the whole operation. We are here to make money. If UPS doesn't do well we don't either. We are pushed to turn in sales leads for new volume, but find that many times we can't give good service to the customers we currently have. PAS/EDD is a good system, but only if fine tuned. After 2 years here you would think SOMEONE would realize that and spend the time to fix it. That's my first wish. My second wish would be to let the "center team" have more control over the daily operations. It would seem we are being run by the Gods that live hundreds of miles away instead of the management here that actually has a clue as to what we are facing on a daily basis. If you put someone in managemrnt, let them manage....
I agree, and after all I dont think many of us say things here, that we dont say at work. I think most of us are just perplexed that we cant get things fixed when they truly need fixed. And we like to know others are experiencing the same, or not.
At first I was afraid to say things, then I thought, its all true, I would like some input, and here I am.
An IP address can be used to trace you. In the example given about susie's skills above, she traced an IP address to UPS in NJ. An administrator there could easily find out who had that address at that particular time.
There are many programs available that can trace an IP address to a very specific geographical location.
Your ISP is required to keep records of who has what IP address, how do you think they prove child pornography cases, or RIAA lawsuits?
I have no doubt that anyone's IP address could be used for nefarious purposes.
It was bad enough that Cheryl and tonyexpress had that information, but their identity is known. It is disconcerting to know that she has given that authority to strangers, if in fact admin privileges allow that.
