Oh when they get about 12 or 13 they care. Then they refuse to wear anything that didn't cost an arm and a leg. We were lucky. Neither of our kids were clothes divas but we have friends whose kids were absolute brats if they didn't get the latest fashion being worn in school by the other clothes brats.

My kids didn't have hand me downs (boy and a girl) but neither did they have to have the latest designer blue jeans or Nikes. I had an older brother so I know about hand me downs.
