Reminds me of the grocery store I delivered to for years that normally wasn't delivered until late in the afternoon. On my way around town delivering air I would stop and drop off their payroll checks (at the request of the employees). One day the manager pulled me aside and said he thought it was a nice thing to do on my part but to discontinue doing it because after getting their checks about half the employees would fail to come back to work after lunch break.

They still do that around here when the graves and headstones are so congested they can't get a mini-backhoe close enough to dig. Mostly they just stack bodies up like cordwood until the ground thaws.
Some big cemeteries have propane burners to thaw earth.
