You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
We spanked them too
You were the generation that it probably really depended on where you lived.

In the cities participation trophies were all of the rage. It was another generation before it reached the rural areas.

I started t ball in 1988. Got participation trophies for the t ball years and that was it.

IMO, t ball age is fine for everyone getting a trophy, because most kids don’t even understand the whole trophy thing yet. Past that age though, they start learning how to be competitive and everyone getting a trophy is a little discouraging to those who do well. It also gives false hope to the kids who will never excel at sports.

Equal opportunities does not mean equal results. Some things you have to earn.

You know I am well aware some kids are late bloomers. Hell i am fairly certain Ava is gonna be a late bloomer sports wise (if she blooms at all) but so many kids at a young age their parents just force them into it. Like not only is the kid very clearly not the next lebron but they just show no interest either.

My best friends son is 9. Just getting to the age where some kids are starting to look like real ball players. One of their coaches sons was like this. He was starting pitcher many games and the kid never had a chance of getting anyone out. He couldn’t throw strikes. Then they moved him to 3rd ( 1 he couldn’t get the ball to first and 2 he was never paying attention) finally last couple games stuck him in the outfield. Still cost them
If someone hit it out there but overall the team was better. But dad thinks he’s a star.
