It should easily be accurate for farther but 10-15 yards is a good idea.
I have the feeling you will be using gophers for target practice.

You are supposed to use special air rifle scopes because the recoil goes in both directions from the piston and regular rifle scopes aren't made for that. I just used an extra 4x scope I had laying around and it has worked fine. It keeps its zero too.
