How long did it take you to figure out your vent settings to control your temp? Doing Drumsticks tomorrow/today.
Not too long. Patience and subtle changes are the key. Also read some great advice about starting your fire on this website. Gotta bring it up to temp slow and not go too hot or you’ll have some real problems. Lots of other great advice here. How long did it take you to figure out your vent settings to control your temp? My issue is not giving myself enough time to let it really come up to temp. The inside of the dome will be hot but the ceramic is still cold so when I put everything on my temp drops like a stone. Not too long. Patience and subtle changes are the key. My advice is don’t shoot for an exact temperature, just try to hit a nice stable temp and wait for that good smoke to come out of the chimney. Start you’re grill way before you need to, it hardly burns any fuel.
Sounds like a real pain in the ass grill. More trouble that what it's worth and WAY too expensive. How long did it take you to figure out your vent settings to control your temp? Doing Drumsticks tomorrow/today.
Temp will always drop when you first put stuff on. Cold food and opening the lid. Let that temp settle for 20 mins minimum and make adjustments with the top vent. Let the adjustment sit for 15 minutes minimum and see where it ends up. It’s hard to dry out any food in there it’s so sealed up.My issue is not giving myself enough time to let it really come up to temp.
