Can We Be Fired For Not Coming In From Vacation?

You are under no obligation whatsoever to work during your vacation.

That does not apply to wifey during vacations and even worse in retirement.
My wife has had me busy as hell for the last week.
Just got through vacuuming carpets at 1:30 in the morning.
I must admit the yard and house have never looked better.

they called me today by using a personal phone and my roommate answered and told them I was home.

they said they didn't have anyone and that I was "being directed" to come in as "we have a business to run".

I said NO. so they told me to hold for the dispatch manager but I hung up. they called back about 6 times but I didn't answer.

not looking forward to Monday. however , called my BA and she told me to have a steward ready at punch in.

You are not an "at will employee". You are not a nurse, fire or police officer. Have you found any language that allows them to force you to come in on your "earned" time? They can say whatever they want, they can ask you to come in, they cannot force you to come in. If anyone allows them differently just doesn't have the balls.
