ive watched frontline documentary on retirement crisis

did frontline tell you this?

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 57% of private-sector firms with fewer than 100 workers offered a retirement benefit plan as of 2023, while 86% of companies with 100 or more workers—and 91% of firms with 500 or more workers—offered a plan
do you see the contradiction between what you watched and what is reality? I am therefore curious did frontline paint the gloom and doom that you speak to or did you get that from their show because it was the narrative you were looking for?

That’s the beauty of compounding.

If you had saved just $10 in your 401(k) every week since 2008 you would have almost $400,000 today.

Everyone has an extra $10 they could be saving and probably much more.
arent some people running negative savings?
  • Roughly 52 percent of Americans 65 and older “are living on less than $30,000 annually, and one in four survive on less than $15,000 per year,” according to Census data cited in Senator Bernie Sanders’ report on retirement.
i cant even have a decent conversation with @vantexan he is so malnourished!

Not certain how people can make so little money when hardly any place at least where I live pays less than $20 an hour for anything. And that is just starting. That’s like $40,000 a year if you come to work on time every day. And certainly you will get a raise at some point.

maybe where you live the median wage is higher, i thought it was just above 15/ hr nation wide

what else could stop people from saving? illness, single parent maybe.

ill ask for you how long its been like this

i call in to dispatch when i start in the morning and when i finish so its not a mystery.

they pay us 25/hr for 6. the local union pays like 30/hr for 4 plus a defined pension.

Canada is 30% unionized so maybe not so uncommon?
