well why is the company charging $7.99 to hold their package at the CCDon't really need a customer counter for that.

While working the Customer Counter in Jersey for 7 years I saw the writing on the wall. Push people to UPS stores, limiting opportunities for Full time drivers (at least in our local) to transfer off the road. Slowly reducing the hours they were open thus squeezing customers into limited same day will calls etc. Counter rates were cheaper than UPS stores and customers knew it. Union jobs lost to corporate greedWhatzzz up wit that?
You got your wish. Carol is closing them all. She doesn’t really care about the receivers not getting their prescription meds, medical devices, needed machine parts, wedding dresses, wedding rings, pay checks, dividend checks, wine club, … and anything else that’s time sensitive that for whatever reason wasn’t delivered on the day it was needed. Many times customers came to us looking for important things that they were expecting. Most times they were tracking the items and for whatever reason the driver wasn’t able to deliver it. Even if they attempted 3 times. Can you imagine a customer needing anxiety meds? Heart meds? … it’s a pathetic slap in the face of the “S” Service. Take the word SERVICE off and just change the name to UP$ Jim Casey would be ashamed.I am not surprised....customer counters don't make money and are even more costly due to the high claims from the regular customers .....
Union jobs lost? Maybe preferred jobs lost, but here they all went back into the hub. While working the Customer Counter in Jersey for 7 years I saw the writing on the wall. They'll still get them. They will just get them at a UPS Store or access point. You got your wish. Carol is closing them all. our little center just announced closure Feb 1st No UPS store closer than 40 minutes- ours was told last fall staying open due to no store close by and was profitable. We are actually very busy at ours. The one at our little backwater center still going, but hadn't heard about the future of it recently.
We would about have to put up a fence and hire a guard, always customers wondering around in the building.our little center just announced closure Feb 1st No UPS store closer than 40 minutes- ours was told last fall staying open due to no store close by and was profitable. We have CVS and other stores now as well. Apparently, they sign a contract with UPS and get paid to hold packages for pick up.our little center just announced closure Feb 1st No UPS store closer than 40 minutes- ours was told last fall staying open due to no store close by and was profitable. We got them, not in on first attempt next morning goes to the ACCESS POINT. We even do it for bad dogs. That's BS
We even had an option for same-day although I’ve never done that of course lol. We are also told we don’t have any choice but to pick an access point. We cannot reattempt, unless given specific instructions to do so. Apparently it is a service level the shipper picks. We got them, not in on first attempt next morning goes to the ACCESS POINT. They absolutely are getting rid of any easier jobsKeep in shape you folk in package car. The fall back positions for the managled such as customer counter are going away fast. You get hurt, plan B is another job outside of UPS.
Safest is job at moment here are is BA clerks and hazmat auditors. Years ago PT management would handle the auditors they passed that on to employeesThey absolutely are getting rid of any easier jobs
