Aren't you one of the posters, that said the Union "owns" the grievance ?
And they can dispose of it, as they see fit ?

Yes I did, and they do.
The local did not have to process this untimely grievance once it became their grievance. It is their grievance to do with as they see fit, hopefully with the grievants best interest in mind.
They processed the grievance which means the company has to hear it.
Dig through my posts. This is exactly what I have said in the past.
The local could have told the employee that they will not hear his grievance because it was untimely. They made a choice to process it. Good for them.
Would you like me to give you the settled case number that states once a grievance is submitted to the union, it becomes the property of the union?
