He was probably getting a kick back, as the politicians usually do. Trump doesn’t need the money, the tail or the fame. That’s why he’s dangerous to the establishment. Call me crazy, and I’m sure some will, lol, but this country has hemorrhaged good paying jobs since NAFTA. So called free trade has killed us. I’ll take some short term pain for the future of my kid and grandkids.
I definitely don’t believe in what was the so-called free trade. It was never free. I believe we paid a price over the years.

I’m genuinely asking, trying to learn as I don’t know enough about this, but how would ups have benefited without the trade agreements?
UPS would’ve been fine either way. But if you notice jobs like ours with the pay, the benefits, etc., etc. are rare now when they used to be common for middle class. The free trade experiment eroded all those good blue-collar jobs. Sent them to other countries for lower wages. People like to say it was great for the economy, but if you notice it was great for billionaires there’s more and more concentrated with fewer and fewer people and even corporate consolidation.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Automation is a threat to inside workers. Someone still has to deliver the package.
The thirst for more profits is driving these nut jobs further and further they are looking for a way to replace even drivers with robots eventually down the road.

My question is if they replace everyone who’s going to buy their crap?

To be fair I might be spoiled with my benefits as a part timer lol. But I can’t stress how appreciative of it I am though and I don’t take it for granted. I really try to give my all every shift and never call in unless necessary. I’ve called in sick two instances within 10 years
If you knew what other people paid weekly or monthly, it would make your jaw drop. All We have to do is show up to work.

There is nowhere(company)in the country that give these benefits to the part timers, You probably earn them. Two instances in 10 years = a beer.
