That's great for someone that has enough money to live off their dividends.
But yes dollar cost averaging is the way to go for most people. I know a few people who freaked out and sold it all in 08-09. Then complained they had to work 8 more years to retire. If they had just stayed the course and kept buying they would of been fine in a couple years.

I think a lot of people just simply don't understand why you'd buy when something is going down and it's supposed to make you money also.
Because they are brave while the market is running up and turn into chicken
when it goes down.

I sometimes wonder if the board ever regrets going public.

Not likely. The only problem I see sometimes is they try to be a growth stock and a dividend stock. I’d buy up tons of ups at $60 with the dollar quarterly dividend. At $100 or more not so much.
