Driver Sleeping Aids

I'm sound asleep within seconds of hitting the pillow. One advantage of this job. No problem falling asleep 99% of the time. My problem is if I get too much sleep I feel like :censored3:the next day. So most nights I have to try to stay awake as long as possible before going to bed. 5 hours for me is perfect. Feel great the next day. 7 or 8 and I feel like :censored3:

I just hover my head around the handle of a leaning handtruck and drop a heavy package on the tongue, I usually wake up the next morning a little lumpy and not even remembering how I got there.

Any one have trouble getting to sleep?
What type of sleeping aids do you use and how effective are they.
I also wanted something that didn't make one feel foggy when they wake up.

And Legal.
Don't care about the DOT or UPS since i am retired.
Try Z-quil or Sleep aid. The same ingredient thats in Nyquil. Makes you sleepy and clears your sinus. Or vice versa.

Those people need to go see a sleep specialist ASAP as no one should "have" to take a pill just to go to sleep.
She has seen the doctor, and they tried different medications. Unfortunately, there is no cure for insomnia. She takes that pill at about 10pm every night, and even after taking that medication, she usually isn't able to fall asleep till about 1am.
Lunesta is a very safe medication, and I do not believe it is addictive. They make it in three different dosages. Now you want to talk about an addictive medication, Xanax is one.

At the vitamin shop...

Look for a few supplements. First one is called CALM w/calcium. It's a magnesium supplement. Magnesium is a natural low dose muscle relaxer. This stuff mixes with water. Taste like weak lemonade. Then look for a supplement called ZMATECH or ZMAs. Combo of magnesium, zinc, and vitamin b6. Third one is melatonin. 5mg dose

Mix the calm with water. Drink it with 2 ZMAs and 2 5mg melatonin. That puts me out in a heart beat. Plus it's all just supplements which most Americans are deficient in anyways(except melatonin).

Also for what it's worth, of course I'm no doctor but I have spent a fair amount of time with my doc trying to work on my sleep. I drive feeder at night so sleeping during the day goes against the natural circadian rhythm of the body. I don't care for prescriptions so the supplements listed above seem to be fairly effective for me at least

I agree that prescription meds for sleep should be a last resort. Some docs are tto quick to yank out the prescription pad nowadays instead of trying to treat or cure problems. Why get dependent on substances that might not even be needed?

I've got a few sleep stations on Pandora I'll use when I have trouble sleeping.

I laughed when I heard about this one, but it definitely puts me right to sleep.

Also, try sleeping with a box fan on. Or put white noise on repeat with your phone through youtube or spotify. Apparently there is a scientific study that shows if it's too quiet while you sleep, the faintest sound can wake you up. Supposedly when you sleep the brain is on "high alert" if you will since it doesn't have to work to keep the body awake and fully functional. I continuous white noise like a fan keeps it "busy" and helps drown out other noises like cars passing by, someone cutting the grass, loud kids,etc.....

I don't remember having mania.

ma·ni·a
ˈmānēə/
noun

  1. mental illness marked by periods of great excitement, euphoria, delusions, and overactivity.
But then, I did work for UPS.

Must have had that when you worked in the industrial BSing department. Tell me again how perfect your magic fantasy numbers are

I use a white noise maker and a fan ... it definitely helps.

I tried an over-the-counter (OTC) pill called Alteril and it works pretty well.
Doesn't put you to sleep but relaxes you.
All Natural Sleep Aid | Alteril

The three primary ingredients in Alteril are L-Tryptophan, Melatonin and Valerian.

L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that is present in virtually all plant and animal proteins. When it is absorbed into the body, it is ultimately converted into a neurotransmitter serotonin.

Melatonin has been used for years to promote sleep. This ingredient has been shown to improve sleep quality in individuals. Make sure you are able to get eight hours of sleep.

Get deployed on a Navy ship. You'll learn to sleep through anything. I have no problems falling asleep at night.
