Put Japan in Eastern Europe and make them Occidental. Suddenly to some they're nationalists protecting their heritage and maintaining the integrity of their borders. But as successful Orientals who want their country for themselves and have very stringent rules about who gets in they're racists. It's all a matter of perspective. Of course in Japan's case they have a history of trying to dominate others around them and believe they're superior to all those others. But once defeated they channeled all of that into building a country that only the Koreans have come close to emulating.

My son in law/ daughter were stationed there(3 years). Got out about 5 years ago.Maybe they were the exception, but generally were treated well, especially by those who were older.

I know some people who lived in China and they liked it. The only problems were with the government.

Contrary to popular belief Chinese don’t hate Americans. Many of them are intrigued and welcoming to them.
