Ever been to IME ? Share you experience please

For the first time I'm going to be seen by a doctor not to refresh my soul and make feel better but to proof I'm a basically a liar. If you have been there, what is it like? What should I be aware of? I am sure there is gonna be a thick sheet of ice between us. Share your experience maybe will help as I have go thru it

I am on my 2 IME this one is court ordered. 2 UPS Doctors 2 different diagnosis.

I bet if you went to 5 different doctors you would end up with 5 different diagnosis---depending on which particular kick-backs a doctor is getting from a drug company for prescribing a certain medicine or specialist. Its a racket just like everything else.

Went to one once. This Dr said I was fine and I could return to work. He did not understand why my Dr was keeping me off work.

He said he was going to recommend stopping Workers Comp and giving me a full release to return to work.

I called him a quack and asked him if he had even noticed who my Dr was.

As it turns out, I was being treated by the highest rated Neurosurgeon in the area.

When he looked at the paperwork, his jaw dropped to the ground. The expression on his face was priceless.

He studied my file for a few minutes.

He said that he may have made a mistake and that he agrees with my Dr.

Continue comp and continue treatments.

I had an off the job injury some time ago, and was treated by a Specialst. Was cleared to return to work, but the Company GP would not clear me.
Long story short, when the Union threatened to invoke the 3rd Dr option, (can't remember exactly what it is called) AND pay for the time the Co Dr was keeping me off, the Company and their Dr agreed my Specialist was correct and I could return to work.
Sounds as though the OP might be in a similiar situation.

I don't have a problem letting people know, but if I go into exact detail, it would not be hard for UPS to figure out who I am.

Neurosurgeons treat more than just brain injuries. It did not involve my brain.

And the IME Dr did have the report, but he apparently did not look at it until I was in his office being evaluated. He did not even notice the name of my Dr until I called him a quack.

If he had seen his name first, it would have been a little different in the exam room. No Dr is going to question the highest rated Neurosurgeon in the area.

And once he saw his name, he did not question him. His report showed that my Dr was correct and he agreed with him.

But not until he noticed who was treating me.

Sounds as though the OP might be in a similiar situation.

A little different. Your case is that you are injured and your doctor clears you to go back to work and the company doctor says you cannot return to work, or vice versa.

In this case, the union can invoke the third doctor procedure.

The union and company mutually agree on a third doctor and his decision is final and binding.

Only Workers Comp can invoke an IME.

The sole purpose of the IME is to determine the continuation of Workers Comp benefits.

UPS wants the IME to report that you are at maximum medical recovery, or that you can return to work so that they can stop the comp payments and treatment payments.

He was wondering if anyone has gone through the IME process. His medical condition is his own private, personal business.
