Grand jury duty here is for 30 days but it is quite rare to spend all 30 days in a courtroom. The norm is to go for a week at a time, as needed.

They can be extended, but you don't have the original jurors, all that has to be done is to show cause to renew. The next jurors might not be as inclined to indict as the last.
