He's just a recent retiree struggling to find his place in the world without big brown bossing him around.

I think it's part of the religion of the left. A lot of people can't handle walking away from traditional religion and social structures without feeling like they've got big holes in their souls that need filling. Even if they never recognize it as such. And being part of the "team" that pushes this sort of stuff probably gives some lefties a sense of belonging.

In 40 or 50 years there might be documentaries that will view this stuff as cult-like behavior that left a trail of destruction in the lives of the kids who were affected by it. Those who haven't yet offed themselves over how things turned out will be giving interviews.
