Fleeing New York City In Droves!

DELACROIX

In the Spirit of Honore' Daumier
I live in a small village (farm community)(4,000 people) about 20 minutes outside of a major city in the midwest. It has about 2 percent minority listing on it's last census (Mayberry RFD) with a lot of acreage. I noticed within the last year that a lot of the farmers are selling their land and people are leaving the burbs and city to build their dream homes, getting out of the muck of traffic congestion, high taxes and crime. The realtors couldn't sell a house inside the village a year ago, now everything on the market is snatched up within a few months. The current low interest rates are another incentive to downsize and simplify a fast paced lifestyle (Green Acres)...

I took the plunge aver 10 years ago and never looked back by leaving the burbs after seeing somebody trying to break into my car in my driveway and the real estate values dropping. I leave the door unlocked sometimes because the neighbors see things and everyone in our village owns a firearm, occasionally we have petty crime (local druggies risking their lives for some fast cash) but it is as rare as hen's teeth.

For those who’ve never been to NYC they are specifically talking about the island of Manhattan. Which has very wealthy folks. But also has hundreds of thousands in rent controlled apartments. Neighborhoods in Queens and The Bronx are a different story.

The virus might have something to do with wanting to leave highly congested cities where mass transit is a must.
Somewhat for sure, but mainly it's the crime wave and fear. Spoke to one realtor who just sold to a couple that just bought. The husband was spit on by someone who didn't like his skin tone.

Not to mention the GOP tax cuts which eliminated the deduction of state and local taxes.

Voting in state and local elections should require 10 years of residency.

Screw these people coming here, voting for bonds, debt, government, taxes, stupid stuff, entitlements, and then leaving again in two years while locals hold the bag.

Build the wall on the Mason Dixon line.

The big package

Yes the people are moving because The people they voted in the (Democrats ) are destroying these areas like California and New York, The only problem is these people are not smart enough to see it and change their political party so they take their idiotic beliefs with them and will eventually destroy those areas as well !!!

It's easy to say the problem is the party they vote for.

Really, the problem is them.

They are the problem, not just how they vote.

New Yorkers themselves simply suck.

Their sucky voting patterns are just a symptom.

Yes let's blame everything possible but the obvious. Under Giuliani New York City became remarkably safe for it's size and it thrived. Under di Blasio it's quality of life has deteriorated to the point people don't feel safe and their livelihoods even before the virus were taking a hit. The ones leaving are the ones who can. Millions are stuck.

How else do you think a liberal bastion allowed a Republican in? Because crime was awful. Otherwise never happen in today’s world.
And he delivered. So well that the liberal bastion started feeling he and Bloomberg were picking too much on the groups where most of the problems originated. Never mind that all the illegal guns confiscated and criminals gotten off the street saved thousands of lives. People really do deserve the government they get.

It will be fine
