Fred Zs * visit, his amicable meeting with PK & JC 42s fury!

The Orphans were sold out by H.

He let this snowball keep rolling down the hill, until it go so big, only Bankruptcy could save the plans.

The cuts should have happened a long time ago, and they would be smaller than they will have to take now.

But you keep talking about the Orphans.

Because your silence on H's incompetence is deafening.
The orphans were sold out by Ron Carey when he raised the pension in 97 across the whole board. That TDU piece of crap screwed everyone just to win the election. He knew it wasn't sustainable. It was irresponsible and he knew this. Trucking deregulation put so many companies out of business and the never paid their pension liabilities. It's so clear and if you can't see this you are just unreasonable.

For those with short and selective memories:

Carey raised it during the strike because the company offered the $1000 bump at 30 yrs to get us to cross the strike line and then they could control the pension fund. He had two choices and with families not getting strike $ after two weeks he did what he felt he had to do to keep solidarity. Not "for votes". That's a lie. I was there.

He couldn't forsee the economic downturn coming. BUT, even without much of a strike fund, he stared down the company and because of his well earned trust as a leader we hung in there and trusted someone who was one of us...and we won.

Jim Kelly hated Carey but favored Jr. Why was that? When the company likes the union's GP it speaks volumes.

Now, we live in a ME generation. Take care of me and screw everyone else is the mantra.

Carey's courage will always be remembered no matter what slander is posted here. He was the leader that "came out of the woodwork"... without the famous last name.

This is FACT

James P. H grew up on picket lines and in union meetings. He is the only son of James R. H, former General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. On his 18th birthday, H received his own union card and was sworn in by his father. Prior to becoming Administrative Assistant to Michigan Joint Council 43, H was a labor lawyer in Detroit for 25 years.

TEAMSTER CAREER

1960s: Teamster laborer in Detroit and Alaska, loading and unloading freight from ships, driving trucks and buses, and operating heavy equipment.

1968-93: Teamster attorney representing members in workers compensation cases, Social Security, and personal legal matters; represented Teamster joint councils and local unions.

1993-98: Administrative Assistant to the President of Michigan Joint Council 43.

1999-Present: General President, International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

All accurate info. Also he has consistently PAID HIS DUES since the 60's. He worked unloading ships on the Great Lakes, and he worked driving trucks, heavy equipment and buses in Alaska during the construction of the BEMIS (Ballistic Missle Early Warning System) military base there you go slappy.

What you've posted is not fact, Belly. In fact, it's total BS! Have you ever even stopped to think that if he had consistently paid his dues since the 60's, how could he have been ineligible to run for GP in 1991. He was there, Belly. He was at the convention in Orlando. He was looking for any way possible to get the eligibility criteria waived. It didn't work because he didn't pay his dues for 24 consecutive months and was NOT eligible to run. Case closed.

Sometimes it just doesn't matter who your daddy was. Get over it.

What does 1960 have to do with being 24 consecutive months 30 years later? You make zero sense.

Not my assertion, pant load. Consistent dues payment since the 60's was part of the glowing History of H, as reported by Belly. Don't you guys chat before you toss these whacko faux facts out there?

Revisionist history....

Is always convenient, for those who are trying to revise it.

Carey got caught with his shorts down, because UPS didn't think we would strike.

There was no other choice. Fortunately, the economic climate was right.

And.... we had public support. This isn't 1997 anymore.

If you think, that could happen now ? Dream on.

The public would be carrying pitch forks and burning torches to the facilities.

(along with their "affordable" health care bills)
