President Sean Harden has requested Chicago Public Schools (CPS) purchase him a $76,000 taxpayer-funded Ford Expedition, as well as a full-time driver, who would be rewarded a $78,000 year salary, sources told
Fox 32 Chicago.
Others in CPS, such as CEO Pedro Martinez and Chief Education Officer Bogdana Chkoumbova, do have a paid driver and car.
However, unlike Harden - who only has to show up to unpaid meetings two to three times a month - Martinez and Chkoumbova go between schools every day, leaving Harden's potential with a lot of downtime.
Harden, who is unpaid, has a largely administrative part-time role within the Chicago BOE.
