Always been the way it is here. I've never taken a vacation the week of a holiday. We've had guys take all the holiday weeks and use the days owed to take off the week after Christmas.

We just get extra pay. Usually the overtime hogs will choose those weeks.

My point is that in the Central, you do not get a "day owed."

You are just paid for the vacation and the holiday. You are not owed a day.

You can try, if manning allows it, to take an unpaid day off at a later point since you basically got an extra days pay.

But you cannot say that you want so and so day off because they owe you a day.

You can just ask for an unpaid day and hope that the staffing requirements allow you to have the day off.
