Immigration

I'm all for it.

I simply have no confidence that our entire Government is willing/able to create/implement comprehensive, substantive, complete and fair immigration reform.

We don't have a supply problem, we have a distribution problem.

close the borders and you have an immigration policy that is fair or unfair to everyone.

god told us to be fruitful and multiply but not to the degree we over populate our planet.

our nation was built on immigration as a means to populate our undeveloped and under populated country. At some point whether today or 300 years from now we will have reevaluate that process and come to the realization that we can longer be that land of opportunity for everyone.

hopefully we wont have every president between now and then promise us immigration reform.

Care to elaborate on the 'distribution' thing ... I didn't get it.

Or, we reform it right now.

What's the problem?

Is it possible that Republicans don't want to reform immigration?

I know the majority still needs some of the minority votes, but FFS, get over it.

Make a new set of laws!!!

This is a signature issue of Trump's campaign, but he changes his mind more often than I change my newborn's diaper.

Stop talking about it, just fix it: Repubs hold almost all the cards, but they're choking, once again.

Real Immigration Reform will take the will of both parties and the president to fix.

Here's where Trump has the possibility to show real leadership and shepard his party to the promise land.

Trump ain't no Reagan, but he's in a position to make substantive change.

Elections have consequences.

Trump plus Republicans control all the levers of government: if he was going to make a change, it's right now.

Except Trump is an unreliable narrator, and evidently he's swayed by the last person in the room who whispers in his ear.

He's squandering his political capital.

Sad.

Just that we're the richest and most powerful country in the galaxy...

If that's correct, then we should have the most awesome schools, the best healthcare, the most kick-butt post-secondary education mechanism on the planet, etc, etc.

Yet we lag in all those areas - our supply is strong, our distribution is weak; the capitalist model excels at many things, but parity isn't one of them.

Maybe 'parity' is a Socialist term...I'll turn myself in for 'reeducation'.

So 'redistribution' and Capitalism are at odds?

PS - I get the 'distribution' now.

Comrade, we do have the best schools and healthcare. People come here from other countries to get an education or surgery. What you are trying to say is it should be “free” or that everyone should be set on single payer. What you fail to see is capitalism is what built these schools and hospitals, it’s government being involved that keep innovation and cost from being more efficient.

I just don’t understand how liberals can look at the most powerful society to ever exsist and say that capitalism is hindering it. That our massive welfare state isn’t bankrupting it. Some of us don’t want to see our taxes double, some of us don’t need serious healthcare or even an education. If I needed one I’d be paying for it right or would of taken advantage of the programs already out there. My SO is attending a very nice community college right now and hasn’t paid a dollar out of pocket, yet you say it’s not obtainable.

The more money we sink into the government the less there is in the private sector, less jobs, lower wages, harder on entrepreneurs and less money to buy products. You’d know this if you watched the news regarding the tax cuts. I just got done paying 1,200 dollars in taxes, I’d hate to see that turn into 2,400. Truly scary some people can’t comprehend this :censored2: isn’t free and it would be harmful to those who work, it insentivizes laziness.

I’m confused about the “just got done paying 1,200 dollars in taxes” comment. For what exactly this week? I’m confused.

the republicans rarely if ever march in lockstep. if you can convince 90 percent of any population to agree with you then you are the messiah. In politics at 90 percent you are the head of dysfunctional government.
