2008 Trafficking Law Largely Inapplicable to Current Border Crisis
"William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008"
The "William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008" was passed by a Democratic Congress and signed into law on December 23, 2008, by former President George W. Bush. As explained in a press release from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the law is named after English abolitionist William Wilberforce, who led the parliamentary movement against the British slave trade in the early 19th century. The law supplements the "Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005", which amended the "Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000". The aim of these laws is to prevent people from becoming victims of human trafficking and to protect women and children who are often the targets of human traffickers.
Under the "Trafficking Victims Protections Act of 2000" and the acts that amended it, the focus is on "severe forms of trafficking in persons", which the act defines as "sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age" or "the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery."
Human smuggling, which is generally consensual and largely what is taking place along the border currently, is different from human trafficking, which generally is done against the will of the person being trafficked.
Federal law defines an "unaccompanied alien child" as a person who "has no lawful immigration status in the United States" and "has not attained 18 years of age" and does not have "a parent or legal guardian in the United States".

Good explanation, but prepare for attack from Libs on this topic. Blowing up their only talking point on this issue will make them very angry.

The gov. of Maryland doesn't want the children to return to Central America but doesn't want the children in Maryland either. Liberals and their empty sympathy, i expect nothing less.

Liberals don't want those future voters deported yet don't want them in their gated communities either.

and the conservatives dont want a cheap, endless supply of cheap labor to go away either

There is an almost endless supply of workers available with unemployed US citizens and those on welfare who are able to work. Conservatives want jobs to go to Americans, not illegal immigrants.

Not if they have to pay more. You don't even want to increase the minimum wage.

Annoy a conservative....Think for yourself

Saw a video of the angry, underemployed ( I assume because it was a work day for me), under informed white wingnuts screaming obscenities at these kids, most of whom probably don't even speak English, and I thought to myself, if you don't have a job and you don't want them here why aren't you out in the fields picking the fruit. But of course these are the people ( the white wingnuts) who make up the vast majority of welfare recipients, (they just refuse to admit it), and they don't want no brown skin people horning in on their entitlements.....

Annoy a liberal today. Hit them with facts.

Because they care about our county and don't want to see it flooded with an unending wave of illegal aliens.
But you had to throw the typical liberal democrat ploy that it's because of race.
Is it always about race with you libs or at some point are you going to admit that these people (and children) are breaking the law?

This country has always been about race ever since the first Europeans stepped foot on this continent.

So you have any proof to back up your claim that "white wing nuts" make up the vast majority of welfare recipients?

And you do know that picking fruit, as well as a rather long list of other jobs, used to pay a hell of allot more than what the illegals are getting paid now right? And maybe, just maybe, that's why most Americans won't touch those jobs anymore. Only illegals can afford to live on such jobs because they cram three or four families into one house or trailer.
