Started one the year after high school and also when United Parcel Service started one. No debt unless it was beneficial to me.

Not everyone has access to the OT and wage we do for such an extended time. We have to 401k it to reduce taxes.That average is kinda sad

It sure looks like that safety net of (pensions)..(social security) and (401k’s) for most of us is just a pipe dream.

And since I don’t know their living expenses, I can’t assume $85,000 is enough. I know guys I work with who make 120 K, And can barely afford to miss a paycheck, smh.

That's a low amount and won't last long at retirement, but those aren't recommended amounts per age but actually savings by age. Americans overall don't save much then are surprised when they're still working at 75.

When parts of US population only have $500-1k in the bank. If you take months off for birth of kid or on disability for injury it adds up.
