I didn’t know much about drag queens at all.
Not something I was ever interested in or saved pornographic photos of.
But apparently “reading” is something they do while performing which is basically an insult routine to one another. So the “drag reading” thing in libraries was kind of a play on words of that and something people who like drag queens understood. Probably parents who are fans of that RuPaul show were interested in these events to see drag entertainers.
Apparently there are drag kings as well.
Women who do this, but typically not as well known because they don’t get massive amounts of hatred directed at them same way gay men do.

Also I don’t recall drag queen story hour ever being forced on people. It seems religious bigots are just upset drag queens exist, not because drag queens are trying to force children to watch them perform, which isn’t happening as far as I’m aware.
Like I said not a big fan of drag queens, don’t save pornographic images of them or know much about it.

Drag queens have always kind of creeped me out. I don’t really like their mannerism and appearance, big creepy vibes.
But to each their own.
