So you have no problem with the police open carry?
No
But I thought police were untrustworthy and shoot black and brown people indiscriminately?
I certainly never said this.
And generally use their authority inappropriately.
There is definitely corrupt people in all lines of work.
Who gets to decide who is safe and trust worthy enough to have a weapon?
Whoever is currently in charge.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
The founders didn't trust people to always do the right thing thus checks and balances. But the Constitution is the framework of our government as opposed to a king being the center. It's not just something the government is supposed to refer to but is the basis of all governance.

I do trust my towns police force.

Do you trust your towns police force?
I believe in trust but verify.

I believe no human being can be trusted with all power.
Ever read animal farm?

All human beings are fallable, and power makes peoples perspective change, everyone’s best offense is a good defense.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

Psalm 146:3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.

I knew I was gonna get backlash on this.

Then things will never change and the mass shootings will continue.
you can't stop mass shootings without either changing the culture or confiscating all guns

confiscation leads to civil war and tens of millions of dead; that is obviously not worth 124 people per year

I realize this is a sensitive issue for all you gun owners and believe me I am 100% for gun ownership for anyone with a clean record and no history of mental illness. But can you elaborate? I thought at least in the States I have lived in guns were licensed or at least registered. Not so?
This is not a sensitive issue for me this is a common sense issue and I am neither left or right. What good does it do to put more laws on legitimate and legal gun purchasers other than to make that state bureaucracy more powerful and give them money? None of the states that have registries of some sort are any safer because of it.

I agree with you. But asking anything about it seems to get people's dander up. I hate that when kids get slaughtered in a school two things happen. The Left uses it to push gun control but they ignore the constant slaughter that happens every day in our biggest cities because it doesn't help them politically to acknowledge they are failing decent citizens in those cities. And when one of these horrible events happen the gun advocates immediately shut down anything that might be considered that might help. If it's true that the lock of the door the killer went through in Uvalde was broken then daily.inspections of doors should happen with the police dept stopping from time to time to do surprise inspections. Hold people accountable and take away funding if they don't comply. There's numerous things that can be done that doesn't require taking guns from law abiding citizens. But we need to be more proactive because sooner or later if kids keep being slaughtered and the preferred weapon is the AR-15 then politics will get that gun outlawed whether we like it or not.

Like making the schools safe? Like they do with sports events or federal buildings? Or other places that we value.

As long as it’s followed
Which is why we defend the Constitution. If for example Merrick Garland refuses to punish Democrats with the same vigor as he goes after conservatives who speak out at school board meetings then he should be impeached when Republicans take power. The head of Homeland Security should be too as well as Biden himself. They've not only made a farce of enforcing the border but are enabling illegal crossings. Even if they can't get convictions due to Democrats filibustering or whatever they can at least demonstrate they're trying to right a wrong. If the Republicans don't go after this administration full force for what they've done and are doing then we don't really have a country anymore. Even people in liberal precincts like San Francisco are voting out far Left loons for making their city unsafe. The extremists on the Left are demonstrating just how bad their ideas are and if ever there was a time for conservatives to push back it's now.
