Having flown recently I can tell you that there is not a lot of extra room in those overhead bins. Seems like people try to bring everything on to the plane rather than pay extra to have it checked.

I only fly Southwest lately....you can check up to 2 bags for no charge which is nice. And while I'm not quite as thin as you, I fit into my one seat just fine.

I am an infrequent flier but when I do I book on Expedia.

This time I flew United but like you I also prefer Southwest.

You can usually find cheaper flights, so it all about evens out if you check 1 bag

I lost a good friend last night. Passed away at 69. For all the time I knew him he owned a beer / soft drink/ party stuff / cleaning products / office supplies distributorship and if you were his friend you never went dry and never lacked for something fun to do. He donated more prizes and stuff to worth while organizations that any ten other businesses in town. He told me once that he averaged at least 3 groups a day wanting him to donate stuff to their functions and he would do it. RIP Bob. (He always told everyone he met that he invented bobby socks, the bob sled and the phrase "bob up and kiss my ass")
