Double 30What amperage is the breaker in your fuse box? That is what is really important. An over sized wire wouldn't matter as long as the breaker is for a lower amperage. That way the breaker would still trip if it has a problem. The dryer might have its own breaker but I wouldn't rely on that.

I'm just ticked off.Somewhere on the insulation of the old cord is the amperage the cord will safely carry. As long as it exceeds or is equal to what the dryer draws, you'd be good.

This house had a small circuit break box and two sub fuse boxes when I moved in. What a mess.30 should be good. Some 220's have 50 amp breakers which could be a problem. I think most are 30 though.
