Autism is used too conveniently as a label for far too many conditions.
Asperger's which they can't make their mind up whether should be included with autism or not?
Idiot savant (or the new label autistic savant) which is an extreme example?
Mental retardation (which was an official name until recently. - Dept of Mental Retardation only recently changed its name)?
Or one of many other behavioral issues?
I know many autistic people and it would be hard for me to group more than a couple in a the same category because they differ so much.

I was thinking something a little different.
I mentioned that I have a family member with autism. My sister, his mother, has been an autism advocate since he was diagnosed. She has chaired committees, given presentations and is now running a program for autistic children at the state level (I'm sorry, we live in a crappy commonwealth).
I belive I know of what I speak.
