On a side note, I posted in a Current Events Thread a couple of days ago this very story, but from a different source.
So far no one has caught on to a big typo in the first line of the article.
It's quite funny.

Am I assuming correctly that tobacco has to be sent with the A8 barcode ?

The cases of smokes that we used to pick up from our local reservation were never even signature required when sent out.

But, the way it was told to me, the tribes were under the impression from the federal government that if they sold their smokes to other tribes, they were not taxable, even when crossing state lines, as the tribes are considered sovereign nations and are not regulated by the government.

Does this shock anyone. All UPS cares about is money. Delivering FN couches and 150lb lead pipes !!! Delivering unlawful cigarettes because they make more with the A8 barcodes !! They will do anything to make a buck and don't care about the consequences. They'll just raise rates to cover the lawsuits costs anyways, then blame the greedy union drivers for the price of shipping in 2018.

It's not wrong for a business to make money. But when you "whip" your employees to unfair production standards with the FEAR of termination as a carrot, they've lost their soul because of their stockholders. A little piece of me hopes they lose in court.
BOOM...(hef drops the mic!!)....100% true brother....when are we going to stand up and stop letting them walk all the friend over us...when will we get some national support from the "toughest Union in the land"... I want ups to make money, but they need to wake up and realize we aren't robots...and start to realize WE are the face of this company and show us some respect gawd dammitt!!

The untaxed cigarettes were not sent directly to residential addresses-----they were sent primarily to the Indian casinos who, in turn, may or may not have shipped them out to their customers.
Did they throw some fireworks into the mix also??? Casinos, fireworks and smokes...all they need to do now is start gun running and they would be just like a criminal organization ...

So if the Indians shipped the cigs to other Indians or to an Indian casino who sold them to other Indians inside the casino then it would have been ok....so did they get in trouble because they were shipping to the white and black smokers????
