Not detaining people hopping our borders is open borders. You don’t want the children separated, you don’t want the children held together, that only leaves you want the children and their parents to be released into the country.

Streamline the immigration process for work visas, get people documented. When we have a worker surplus, you tax the workers and/or employers more. Right now we have a worker shortage, so just get them in the system in case that changes.
The system Republicans advocate incentivizes criminal entry.
