You're hung up on per capita. The U.S. has by far the most vehicles and that contributes to our having the second highest total emissions. Doesn't change the fact that China's emissions are more than double that plus their overall pollution in terms of air, water, garbage is much worse. Not only in totals but in how they handle it. For people who live in those countries the environmental impact has a much.harsher effect on their lives. I've been to Canada a handful of times and was always impressed with how clean a country it appears. One of the problems our poor.areas have, especially in big cities, is blight. It's about more than just statistics. A clean environment affects well being. You feel the difference very quickly in other countries. I can show you areas of Mexico that you would greatly enjoy but go out.of those areas and the quality of the environment quickly deteriorates.
