Axis victories in North Africa, Battle of Britain and Midway would have changed the entire direction of the war early on along with it's outcome. Yes, the Allies did prevail but at great cost and at Midway they caught a lucky break . In addition, the Neutrality Acts of 1935, 1936, 1937 and 1939 severely restricted what FDR could do. and if not for the very ingenious Lend Lease bypassing the Neutrality Acts giving the British and the Russians some equipment to work with the Nazis would have bludgeoned all of Europe into submission.
And a victory at Midway possibly sinking the remaining US carrier fleet Japan would have had clear sailing to the US West Coast with Midway serving as a staging area.
And Joe McCarthy? Lot of claims and accusations but little else. And the irony is found in the fact that what did him in was his own acute alcoholism .
Woulda, coulda, shoulda.....lol. Possibly.....lucky break.....you sound as if we cheated somehow. Clear sailing? You think we would have sat around watching Japs come ashore? Really? As we turned out guns by the millions and planes by the tens of thousands? Really? And with A-bombs.....? Really? And you don't think we wouldn't have sent B-29 after B-29 over Midway with an A-bomb until it sank into the ocean? Or even dropped A-bombs over their fleet? Germany couldn't even conquer the English Channel....23 miles.
This isn't Harry Turtledove(writes fanciful "what if" alternate history).
You seem disappointed we won the war.....this is the liberal lament. The anti-American liberal(Democrat) apologies.......for being great.
My God.
And Joe McCarthy?.....again was spot on. Don't worry about "what did him in". He was exactly right....and you know it. Hollywood is(right now) full of hard core communist/socialist/liberal Democrats.......far far left. This is settled history. Please don't insult our intelligence. Come on.
And when Sheryl Crow sings about "my friend the communist...." she means it.
