Look Bud, How do you know what could be done? You can fly an airplane a long ways if it doesn't have to come back. Fact. The USA was just getting rolling at the end of the war. We set back Germany and Japan for 70 years of which they have still not recovered. Russia too. We won the war despite the Democrats. Fact. As much as you hate that.
The "communists" teamed with us so they weren't slaughtered into oblivion.
OMG. I never said anything of the kind. Read carefully. A simpleton knows they were our allies for awhile.....
Jesus God you are obtuse.
This imaginary rewriting of history is stupid. And a waste of time.
Say, why are you so pro communist?
Gee, I didn't know that the 405,000 Americans killed in WWII (population at the time 138 million) were all Republicans The British have always cringed at the idea that the US won the war all by itself. Wait till they find out that the entire US armed forces were all Republicans.
FDR's predecessor was Republican Herbert Hoover . The Great Depression happened on his watch. He had 3 years to pull the country out of it but did basically nothing. Four attempts and the GOP still couldn't beat FDR including the fourth time when they couldn't even defeat Roosevelt despite the well known fact that the man was dying .
Indeed, as you said the US was rolling at the END of the war. But the BEGINNING two years we were outmanned, out gunned and the odds were not in our favor.
If my uncle was still alive he would fall of his chair laughing at your preposterous notion of sending a B29 out of San Francisco to A bomb Midway. He was the copilot on a B24. 51 missions out of Italy with the XV. He also got quite a little bit of time on a B29 as the XV was preparing to be deployed to the Pacific. He said that it was enormous leap in airplane design but a very troublesome and marginally reliable aircraft as evidenced by records showing that of the 414 B29's lost in WWII 267 of them were lost to engine fires. Doubts about the plane were so abundant that the less technologically advanced B32 was entering production with some early models flying missions. So sending a B29 on a suicide mission to Midway there's a good chance it would have caught on fire and crashed long before it got there. So much for that big idea of yours.
