The help that most people who call the 800# is awful. They do not know what a arrival scan is as opposed to a destination scan. They have no clue as to just how many packages there are in the system. If they are being paid 10-15 dollars an hour that boarders on criminal theft. The internal help people yes they are excellent at what they do, but the ones that the "regular" customer calls has absolutely no clue as to how the system functions. A good portion of them are out sourced to foreign countriesThey typically make $10-15 per hour based on their longevity and experience.
Some of these people know UPS services and intricacies better than 99.9% of UPS employees.
I have visited several of these Help Desks around the US and was very impressed with the knowledge level of these people. They do work from Expert Advice intelligent software but many deviate from the provided background info.
They have access to all information provided from our systems including driver entered and selected comments in the DIAD. They use their judgment in whether to relay some of the comments by drivers, as you can imagine.
