Police pursuit ends in gunfire after armed robbery

The guys in the truck opened fire first, I absolutely believe they did the right thing, everyone is quick to criticize the cops "hur dur look at that bullet grouping all over the place, pathetic" acting like the pressure of being shot at shouldnt affect them.
The skum on the truck fired because the cops were pretending they were charging a hill in WWII. In the middle of a highway covered in rush hour traffic is NOT the place to do that.

So next time should they just send a ticket in the mail?

Ok this link gives a lot more detail to what happened. Since everyone is waiting on my every thought here they are.
First off the truck should have never have been able to leave the highway where they stopped traffic. One officers was clearly able to block the off ramp and the others could have EASILY rammed the truck and or pit maneuvered it while having 4 open lanes to use. In this scenario if police had to open fire there would have been nothing on the other side of the truck to hit. Ok, now that they have the truck stopped and surrounded by innocent people caution definitely needed to be taken into account. I am all for police and allowing them to do their jobs, even if that means killing people but again you can't be reckless. Not only were there too many people on the opposite side of the truck to be hit but they were even using an occupied bystanders vehicle as cover as they shot which is in turn make the suspects fire back at that location further endangering the innocent occupants.

Grow a better brain. The chase was long and with air support. Police picked the worst possible time to back the suspects into a corner. They were not going to vanish like a fart in the wind. There were zero good reasons and every reason not to descend on the vehicle when they did. Taxpayers will foot the lawsuit payout and these guys will pat themselves on the back for having no other option but to murder two innocents. It is clear that many police officers are in a line of work they are not mentally equipped to handle. What part of their training teaches them to use moving vehicles with civilians inside as cover during a gunfight? A complete cluster:censored2: that should result in a system-wide revamp of training and qualification.

Imagine sitting in traffic minding your own business and 80 cops roll up out of nowhere and stand around with their thumbs up their butts while your wife and child take stray bullets from the criminal, I bet you'd be crying why didn't the cops open fire then.

The cops shouldn't have descended on the vehicle in a traffic jam with a hostage inside. This was a heat-style shoot out the cops initiated by approaching the vehicle (while hiding behind civilian cars).

I do not appreciate public servants with immense power prioritizing their own lives over the population. Police seem to be trained to view everyone as a potential criminal. That mindset makes it too easy to value their own life over yours or mine and this is the result.

Suspects got themselves in a corner cops just followed them there, people say they should have pit maneuvered which could have rolled the vehicle and ended the same, a dead ups driver, yet people also complaining the cops shot the driver. So again should the cops have just let them go? You can't have it both ways you either risk the drivers life while pit maneuvering or during the shootout.

And those civilians are all capable of getting themselves out of harms way, step down on the gas and steer towards an opening

Of course the cops should have let them go (for the time being). Police with air support are fully capable of backing off a situation to allow a better opportunity to present itself. De-escalation is the first priority in a hostage situation. They knew there was traffic congestion ahead and still backed the suspects into a corner and tried ending the chase with dozens of civilians around.
