President Trump

It will be fine

If you look at the era you'll find that commercial real estate was doing very badly then. What matters is Trump turned it around and was very successful by the time he became president. I know it gives you something to glom onto, but ultimately he did well.
What do you think Fred Trump dealt with? He did fine in commercial real estate.

Then why not just have an embargo?
Those are American products they are making for us. No one else comes close to the manufacturing for the American market China does. Do you really want to disrupt everyone's lives like that? Clobber the stock market even worse? Trump is rightfully pointing out the Chinese make out very well in our market while restricting our goods being sold there with protectionist policies. Single biggest reason we are now considered a service economy is so many of our companies moved their factories offshore. We still manufacture things, just not pretty much everything like we used to. Which is why pay has been stagnant for so many years. Bush and Obama both failed to put in structural changes that this president has that gives incentives to business to create jobs in search of profit. Opening up a huge market like China will add to job creation here.

The same years Donald was losing $100 mil Fred was profiting $100 mil
And Fred was old money reaping profit from established business. Young Donald was taking risks like opening the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, starting an airline, etc. If you want to point to him as a failure please explain his success now. He persevered, did very well.

In keeping with what seems to be support for expanded states rights on your part and based on your previous comments it appears that you live in Texas . If that is the case it is important to note that with 15% of it's citizens receiving SNAP benefits it places Texas 24th highest on the list of states. In addition for every dollar Texas sends to the federal government approximately $1.55 in federal dollars comes back to it which makes Texas a "taker" not a "donor" state.
A lot of Federal Dollars comes to Texas in military spending. Texans comprise the single biggest group of military personnel from any state. Don't mess with Texas.

To build interstates you need funding primarily bonds that are backed by the full faith and credit of the federal government . And to do that you have to have a way to repay those bonds. That in turn requires revenues in the form of taxes and a way to collect them.
No :poop:, Sherlock. Limited doesn't mean unfunded.

It means the Federal Government doesn't need to be injected into every nook and cranny of our lives. For instance, if California wants to welcome undocumented aliens, fine. Let's send them all there. Then they wouldn't have to worry about who's going to harvest their produce.

That is why the federal dollars coming back to states is a bogus number. Ignores where the money is really going like military spending.

So tell me Fred, how do we fund the Military?
I never advocated eliminating income tax, just limiting what the Federal Government does with it, so that it needs, and takes, less. State and local governments are more responsive and adaptive to the needs of their populations. The onus of aiding them belongs there.

If Trump doesn't destroy the US economy first. Don't worry about the Mueller report VT If Trump miscalculates and sets off a trade war it will end presidency at one term. At which time the DOJ , FBI, SDNY, IRS and New York State Attorney General can all stake their claim to him.

It's the "red"states that holler the loudest for cuts in federal spending yet their are all "taker" states. If the Sovereign Nation of Texas wants the US military out of the their territory, no problem There are plenty of other equally convenient places to go. South Carolina would be happy to take them in. After all it's already getting $7.87 in federal appropriations for every dollar it pays into federal coffers. I sure it would be most happy to take the generous share of federal dollars Texas is currently receiving.

"The problems with those on Medicare/caid and other welfare programs probably wouldn’t be insurmountable. Either stop-gaps would be put into place to help them transition off or, in cases where the individual truly can’t care for themselves, local charity would help out a lot more. Without the tax burden imposed by the federal government, Texas and its citizens would have a huge surplus. That could be used to create (if necessary) Texas-internal programs or to trade for things that Texas can’t create on its own."

For some inexplicable reason what Texans can't understand is that without the support of federal dollars the continuation of many programs they take for granted would either disappear or they would have to place a sizable tax burden on themselves . And charities would not be able to do more than that for which they are given sufficient funding and are 100% dependent of donations which have a funny little habit of going down in a recession while at the same time the request for services goes up.
