I think he is a proud old school, UPSer certainly a dying breed. I know he’s getting close. I think his pension is kind of crappy.

I heard it said that anyone that stays at UPS 40 yrs or more is nuts, so I retired at 39 yrs, 2 months and 1 week. Like you I opted out of the cake. I told them to not even mention I was leaving. At the end of that day I tiptoed out of there without saying a word.

We had a feeder driver who had about 48 years in. For whatever reason he wanted to get to 50 but before he got there, he had a stroke and is basically bedridden. Super nice guy, but man what a mistake that was.
