People would actually go to the car lots on Sunday to look around in peace & quiet.....no salesmen to bother them. There was always a chain across the drive but you could step over it.....just couldn't drive onto the lot. There was no self serve gas here then either. All full serve. Then to stations with option of full serve or self serve which was a little cheaper. Then to current virtually all self serve.

Had the metal case sitting on the pump island that held oil cans. When is the last time you saw oil in a can?
..... and the gas pumps with the lighted glass globe on top.
