He will not be missed.
Via WaPo:
Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), one of the most prolific and successful lawmakers of the modern era, has decided to retire at the end of this congressional session.
“Forty years have gone by very quickly. I have a great deal of satisfaction in our legislative accomplishments. There’s obviously more to be done,” Waxman, 74, said Wednesday in an interview. “But I’m in good health, and my family is in good health. This is a good time to move on and have another chapter if I am to do anything after Congress.”

You forgot to mention another so cal congressman retiring this year. BUCK McKeon (R), who was CAUGHT in a bribery scandal and faced ethics charges has decided to retire and not seek re-election. McKeon who had recieved his bribes from countrywide for homes he purchased ( here in my town) pocketed thousands of dollars.

Darryl Issa promised to prosecute all those responsible for these bribes, but McKeon escaped when the committee failed to hold him repsonsible. What else would we expect from the republicans who control the committee.

The story..
Several Members of Congress were caught being bribed by Countrywide Financial with discount mortgages and waived fees. The poster boy in this scandal was Representative Howard “Buck” McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform conducted a nearly yearlong investigation resulting in this 135 page report.

There is NOBODY who will miss Buck McKeon in my district. He would have been defeated anyways this year and before that happened, McKeon chose to leave before he was embarrassed.

Again, another GOP gangster gets away with a crime and simply walks away. So much for ISSA's hound dog approach for justice.

Later BUCK, i hope you go bankrupt like your business in town did.

Try letting businesses create jobs. Throwing tax money at something is not creating jobs.

Meninbrown, can you demonstrate a time where allowing businesses to do whatever they wanted created jobs? Reagan cut the taxes of the top 1% (corporations) and in his first two years in office, his unemployment rate skyrockted to 10.7%.

Bush2 cut taxes for the top 1% and he took the unemployment rate from 4.0% to 7.8% and growing in 8 years.

Herbert Hoover did the same thing and put the country into a deep depression.

Even if you cut the taxes for corporations to ZERO , they would still leave this country and move overseas. IT ISNT about the taxes MB, its about escaping the american workers.

The last thing the republicans or corporations want to do is pay a living wage with benefits of any kind.

If you believe otherwise, you are severely misinformed.

Lets look at the republican record and YOU. ( i am assuming you are a hourly UPS worker) Just last year, the republicans in the house under John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan, passed a bill that would have eliminated OVERTIME pay for you and instead, given you days off without pay for your overtime hours.

Additionally, the employer had up to ONE YEAR to actually give you that time off, or compensate you for the time.

How does that help the american workers?

Fortunately, the President protected the american worker by a veto threat and the bill died in the democratically controlled senate.

This is how the republicans help the american worker, by eliminating overtime pay.

What's the bill number that would have changed our contract? You have a long track record of fabrication, but I would support this change to our contract if it is in fact a real thing, but I'm afraid like most of your statements it is just some delusional fantasy you came up with.

You would support not getting paid your overtime for a year? Wow
