Seattle 15$ Minimum Wage

That’s Craptacular
No way. Ups won't even dare picking a fight with the government, they'll get slapped with labor charges.
Yes ups is scared of the big bad gov't. That's why all ups buildings are sooooo OSHA compliant...all those diesel fumes we breathe in when 300 PC's start up to pull out of the building......LOL. Diesel exhaust has vitamin C.

Wait a minute......is that the nasty smoke scent I've been inhaling all these time, which is coming from the package cars' exhaust?

15$/hour isn't to much in Seattle, WA. I would say that equals minimum wage where I'm at.
Minimun wage is $9.32. if you increase it 62%, some companies will move out of city limits or cut its workforce. goods and services will be purchased outside city limits

Businesses may be forced to hire legal employees instead of illegals.

Makes no sense. If they are doing it now while the minimum (legal) wage is low, what makes you think they won't definitely do it when the legal wage is too high. I think the minimum wage right now is fine, people need to stop expecting high wage/salary from entry level jobs that are for adolescent, and go to college or a trade school and make themselves worthy of a decent or high salary/wage.

It's a socialist city council member pushing for the $15 minimum wage.
The mayor isn't a socialist though and he already raised the City employee's to $15/hr. Likewise, Sea-Tac just voted to raise the minimum wage to $15. Now, I know that only 27,000 people live there but I find it unlikely that they're all socialists.

That said, minimum wage is a joke and needs to be raised... Just not to $15.

People now a days are too entitlement-minded and think society/the government owes them a good life. They don't want to work hard for anything rewarding, same like many of my pt co-workers that always cry and complain that UPS owes them something when they could've become drivers if they hadn't messed their licenses up or arent lazy. I just shake my head in disgust. Like Romney said, I'll never convince them to take personal responsibilities or care for their lives. I'll just watch them turn old, gray, and crippled while still slinging boxes.

It costs way more to live in Seattle, just like New York City, etc, etc.

In Idaho, minimum wage is $7 something. Must cost less to live there...

In Seattle I cannot see it happening unless they give businesses something back in return like lower taxes...

Minimum wage jobs are not supposed to be careers. They are meant for kids to gain experience in the workforce for real salaried jobs.

If anything, a low paying minimum wage job should be motivating you to get out of there and find something better.

And I understand sometimes people have to take a crap job before they can find something better to keep things afloat.

It's not as if McDonalds will move all of it's restaurants outside of the city, nor will people drive 20 minutes to get a Big Mac. Services have to be close to the people they intend to service.

If you don't want to raise minimum wage then don't complain about people accepting public assistance.

I was just in San Francisco last July. Holy crap, things are expensive there! It's a shame my father had to sell his parents home because of his sister needing the money. While there we went by the old home and then looked it up on Zillow. My gosh, the place is worth almost a million now! 40 blocks off the ocean and 8 blocks south of Golden Gate park. Our family could be renting that place out for a mint right now.

There are a couple of huge companies that are based real close to San Francisco and San Jose. Most of these executives live in both of these cities which has driven the cost of living way up. Gas was 40-45 cents higher than the national average while we were there.
