Why wouldn't you just enjoy the surprise day off bud? If money's a problem I suggest you stop being poor. Turns out you can actually put money INTO a bank, it's called a DEPOSIT. All you have to do is NOT spend your whole paycheck on beer, cigarettes, and lottery tickets.

The plan was always to use them as drivers for as many hours as possible

It was to protect RPCDs.

"The practice in place, in any Local Union, regarding work currently performed by Regular Package Car Drivers (RPCDs), such as EAMs, early bulk stops, shuttle runs, etc. shall remain in place and shall continue to be performed by RPCDs."
