Should Older Teamsters Vote Yes?

If this new Hybrid Driver position creates more Union members, might the older voter pull the switch for yes?

More employees equates to more pension contributions. So if one were focused on that, they may very well sell the younger drivers out in favor of their own long term interests.
I have 26 years in and you never ever sell out the younger guys. Ever.

My fear is that 10-15 years down the road the company will decide to eliminate pensions for those that are retired, and I can hear a selling point as " these are the guys that voted to screw you in 2018 by voting fora contract that allowed a two tired wage system, what do you care if they have a pension????" and then we will get our screwing

I can almost guarantee that if that ever happened your fears would come true.

I made peace with it. I figured they made a deal to bring a fired driver back to let this one go. I hope I helped some poor bastard get he job back. I believe in karma and maybe that’s why I got my rock star girlfriend

How would the company just "eliminate pensions for those that are retired"? How does that work exactly?

This is why the whole Union thing started. We know, the whole idea behind a Union was to be Unionized and organized. Doesn't seem to be a lot of focus on that. The company has always wanted us scattered, and now it doesn't seem the IBT is much different.
