On Thursday, up here in the Northeast we had complete white out conditions. Still out there driving. They finally called us in a few hours into the blizzard. Couldn't see anything beyond 50'. Had to guess where the highway exits were from memory. Couldn't see them. I was also sick, but I don't call out.

Package Car is cake compared to this...
An older feeder driver once told me that snow is "dollar bills falling from the sky". I've found that to be true.

Did you get paid for 8?

They don't have to in the Central.

The guarantee shall not apply:

Good thing all those drivers were home and didn't see they were on the "snowflake list" or there would have been harassment grievances. Any time management even insinuates a driver might have not been sick or something my steward files harassment grievances on the part of anyone who heard the comment.

Is this the only supplement reference? Only reason I am asking is because where I work if we are sent out and called back in we still get our daily guarantee. If they call us and tell us to stay home we have to use personal time if we want to get paid.

I never called off back in the 70's. There was the snow flake list and everyone knew it. There was a lot less traffic back then and very few idiots like there are today. My friend Model and single 40' would go just about anywhere I needed it to go. Back then our longest run was 400 miles.

There are 5 foot tall snowbanks on the sides of the roads here. It's 40 degrees and sunny though so managment thinks it's fine!

You could have requested your 8 by offering to work in the building.

Perhaps, but no one is fighting to stay at work when there's a big snow storm out unless it's set to stop before the shift ends making it easier to get home later. I would hope no driver needs the money.

Hours worked, got 6.5 in. Message that pulled us in made a point of saying paid hrs worked.

I was only paid 8 hrs at my non union jobs when it was cut short for weather. Go figure.

I ended up with 9 hours. Wanted us in at 8 hours, then sent me a couple letter box pickups & a few stops where the feeder couldn't get to.

Judge me.
Customers are posting on complaint boards about some snow, the roads are now clear and we are using "bad weather" as an excuse not to deliver!
God bless the customers

Do any centers supply real chains btw? Mine only has cheater chains (I make sure to have at least 4 with me in winter). I've seen a PC in the mountains a while back with real chains, while on vacation, but wasn't able to ask the driver if the center supplied them or he bought them himself

Sorry, forgot this is a feeder thread. Always wanted to know though.
